Thus, in today’s Japanese society, many teenage girls end up in the sex industry becoming victims of sexual exploitation and human trafficking before receiving any care from social welfare.
Those girls are either unable to seek help to refuge in institutions or specialized services or unaware of its existence. Thus, we aim to provide a safe temporary home for those girls who “need a place to stay tonight”, and build a relationship which the girls can rely on. We will also continue accompanying the girls to schools, hospitals social institutions, and police to make the steps easier for the girls who work to become self-reliant.
Working towards a shelter that is open 365 days
To open and run a shelter, regular funds are essential. With 30,000 yen, we are able to open a shelter for a day. We consider our work to be an ongoing process where there is never a quick and clear solution. Instead we believe it is important to build a long-term relationship where the girls can depend on and seek advice, instead of providing care or solutions.
“ Creating a society where no child or youth is deprived of basic necessities and personal relationships ―where the vulnerable youth won’t become victims of violence and exploitation.”

What we Do
◎Night Patrols/Consultation Several times a month, we patrol around the night streets and reach out to teen girls who seek help. ◎Meal Shares We believe that sharing meals is an essential need for girls in desperate situations. We prepare and share meals together, where they are also able to learn cooking skills and eating habits, and moreover, recognize the joy of eating with others.
When a person is in despair, the most difficult thing for them is to ask for help. In such state, when asked what they want to do about the problem or their own situation, they often don’t have the answer. That is how drained and exhausted they are
We believe that in a disordered life, it is only with a place to calmly reflect and somebody to trust, that a person is able to recognize their current situation and start facing their problems. Most cases of the girls who come to Colabo are complex and require time to solve. We aim to build long relationships with the girls, where we can celebrate life, cry, laugh together, share pain and anger and work together for a positive future.
Support us run a shelter for teenage girls who are in need!
Teenage girls who spend nights on the streets or depend on online relationships, are usually facing various problems at home and at school. Unfortunately, the ones who reach out to those lost girls are men who have sexual intentions, or those from the sex industry that are attempting to use their naiveness. No care providers or welfare workers are able to come into first contact to the girls on the street.
Running together with the girls
◎Running self-empowerment group “Tsubomi” “Tsubomi” is a self-empowerment group where the teen girls who gather at Colabo take initiative to run events and help the organizations operation. ◎Advocacy and Workshops In addition to giving talks at schools and conferences, we also conduct tours around the city at night times to show the reality of the teenage girls.
