Dr. Ikehara has proposed the [GADV]-hypothesis on the origin of life . It is only theory comprehensively explaining the formation process, through which the life system was established and evolved. We wish to prove the hypothesis through experiments under financial supports from you. It is now considered that four [GADV]-amino acids exist in space, from astrobiological studies showing that the amino acids are contained in carbonaceous meteorites.
To solve the riddle on the origin of life !
We have synthesized random [GADV]-peptides with peptide synthesizer and we have obtained [GADV]-protein as aggregates of random [GADV]-peptides through repeated heat-drying process of [GADV]-amino acids in aqueous solution. We have investigated whether or not the [GADV]-proteins can catalyze hydrolysis of a protein and peptide bond formation under cooperative study with members of Nara Institute of Science and Technology.
About the pseudo-replication of GADV-protein
We are considering that the first life emerged in tide pools on the primitive Earth. That is, we have also proposed the idea that pseudo-replication of [GADV]-protein lead to the emergence of life through formation of catalytically active protein from random synthesis among [GADV]-amino acids.
